I don't seem to have any hardware. Motor setup gives the following errors: 2/9/2011 :10:36 AM - 192.168.0.200, Module - Setup Motor Container : There was some error while executing database query. Details : Database Error:Table 'ppmaccommon.hardware_tbl0' doesn't exist. 2/9/2011 :10:36 AM - 192.168.0.200, Module - Global Clock : Empty Servo hardware List Also, Persistant "Database sync function failed!" message in IDE startup, may be related? Installation all local (no networked drives)

In the tree view there is a node in which you must enter the motor number. It is highlighted bliue in the picture below. Could this be the problem? [attachment=1437:name] In the service pack we are going to fix this so that until a motor number is entered nothing else can happen as this is a common problem.

Previous versions where the hardware was under the solution explorer was much more intuitive.

Why all these data base errors? Why Database sync function fail? 2/9/2011 :2:46 PM - 192.168.0.200, Module - Setup Motor Container : There was some error while executing database query. Perhaps I am wrong but you say you can not add motor or amplifier manufacturers. This sounds like you are trying to enter data into the motor information or amplifier information page. My comment was that you must click on the tree view node that say "enter a motor number here" which I have highlighted in blue. Ther you must enter a PPmac motor number such as 1 or 2 or 10 before anything else will work. The errors you are describing sound like the errors that happen when this has not been done. If this is not the proble I would like to make a WebEx connection to your computer so we can evaluate what is happening. What previous version are you refering to when you say the hardware was under the solution explorer?

I yet another install and that has corrected these issues. The amplifier manufacturer tab now lists delta tau as a default, and can add other manufacturers. The only one left that is a little odd is the feedback tab under the motor. it does not seem to do much, but there otherways to get at the motor now. The version that has the hardware tab in the solution explorer is the same version that is in your tutorial .avi files.
