erikj
Hi, I am unable to telnet into my PPMAC host -- I get a connection refused error. PPMAC board is set to default IP address of 192.168.0.200. I can reach it via ping, so I am confused as to what is wrong. Please see output below. I am running under linux from the command line. The IP addtress of the linux host is 192.168.0.100 and I have a direct connection using a crossover cable to the PPMAC board. The connection refused response comes back immediately, there is no delay. Any help you can give me is appreciated. Thanks, Erik [erikj@laplace erikj]$ ping -c 5 192.168.0.200 PING 192.168.0.200 (192.168.0.200) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 192.168.0.200: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.074 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.0.200: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.087 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.0.200: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.069 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.0.200: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=0.050 ms 64 bytes from 192.168.0.200: icmp_seq=5 ttl=64 time=0.080 ms --- 192.168.0.200 ping statistics --- 5 packets transmitted, 5 received, 0% packet loss, time 4000ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.050/0.072/0.087/0.012 ms [erikj@laplace erikj]$ telnet 192.168.0.200 Trying 192.168.0.200... telnet: connect to address 192.168.0.200: Connection refused telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused [erikj@laplace erikj]$

Are you on a network or a point to point connection?
Yes, we originally used it a few weeks ago from a laptop running win7. Both Atul and Sina helped us get the PPMAC IDE running and we were able to talk to it and eventually tune a motor. I am now using a different host CPU. a Linux box. I am using VMWare to run Win7 and have the PPMAC IDE running on that. I can ping from both Linux and Win7 to reach the board, but cannot telnet in. The connection is point-to-point using a cat 5 crossover cable. The IP address of the network interface on the host side is 192.168.0.100.

This particular cable is straight through, not a crossover. Evidently one of the two sides or both can auto negotiate and account for the cable. In the end I get the same results: I can ping but I cannot telnet or ssh into the PPMAC. Thanks, Erik
Hi Brad, I just power cycled the PPMAC and now I can get in just fine. Sorry for the bother -- I should have tried that before calling for help. Thanks for your replies.
