scott.eichhornetrema.com Posted June 28, 2010 Share Posted June 28, 2010 My video capable Power PMAC is running with a CPU temperature of 68.8 deg C and the status screen in the IDE is coloring the temp data in orange. Is my system running hot? The card is mounted in a UMAC rack. The only fan is at the power supply, and it does not circulate air past the card. There are no top or bottom cover plates over the card. bradp Posted June 28, 2010 Share Posted June 28, 2010 Yes you are running hot. It is good that there are not top and bottom plates on the rack but there needs to be airflow over the CPU. Some people use a bottom plate that we supply with a small blower mounted to it. It does not make much airflow but is sufficient when the sysetm is in an environment that is below 80 to 85F.
