jhendges
On our PowerPMAC, we have configured Eth0 for a local network, and never haver issues with communication over Eth0. Eth1 is confiured with a static IP on our corporate network, and we can communicate to it without any issues for a period of time. After an unspecified amount of time (a few hours for certain) we can no telnet, or even ping the ip address of Eth1 over the corporate network or directly connected to that port. My interfaces file is as follows: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.2.161 netmask 255.255.254.0 gateway 192.168.2.1 auto eth1 iface eth1 inet static address 10.112.148.161 netmask 255.255.254.0 gateway 10.112.148.1 Any ideas on how we can maintain the open connection on eth1. This problem is the same on all of the PowerPMAC's we have.
jhendges
If no communication is made over eth1 for a half hour or more it appears to stop responding.
Sina.Sattari
We have seen this problem before and it was caused by network switches which block the communication to Power PMAC. I'm not sure what setting in the switch or Power PMAC is the cause for this issue. We have customers which have their Power PMACs connected to their network and experience no problem at all, but then there are few customers (I remember at least one) which have experienced this problem.
