Where do I get the PPmac latest firmware and IDE? (Aug. 2020 Edition)

As of late 2020, the locations for the firmware and IDE have moved. Previous versions of both are still being kept on the Delta Tau website, available through the for firmware (forums account required) and the Software Center Updates page for software. However, the distribution methods for each have changed for future versions.http://forums.deltatau.com/filedepot/ [FILE REMOVED]

Future versions of the IDE are available instead from the Omron Industrial Automation website: https://automation.omron.com/en/us/products/family/PMAC%20IDE

Future versions of firmware can typically be distributed directly to customers through Omron Distributors rather than being available for download for anyone. If you need to upgrade the firmware on your unit or obtain a specific other version, contact your Omron Distributor for more information. You may need to provide some information about the product so that the correct file and procedure are provided. These can be obtained by issuing "CPU", "TYPE", and "VERS" into the terminal window, so please be prepared to provide the responses to these commands, too.

NOTE: Users have occasionally reported xml errors when attempting to download some of these links. If that occurs, please try again later (these are intermittent issues) or contact your local Omron office and we will try to get you the files another way.

The link on the Omron website seems broken. Worked a few weeks ago.

To access the downloads, go to the Delta Tau website and navigate to the PPmac product page. From there, you should be able to find a "Downloads" section that will allow you to download the latest firmware and IDE. You may need to create an account and register your PPmac product before you can access the downloads.

4.6.0.14 May 2022 from https://automation.omron.com/en/us/products/family/PMAC IDE gave me a issue where the PMAC HELP file was empty and I could not get it to manually install.

4.6.1.12 Jan 5, 2023 from https://www.ia.omron.com/product/tool/pmac-software/index.htm fixed the help file issues and installed properly...but the databases lists of motors and encoders appear to be empty...no motors/encoders are populated by default and user must build their own library one by one.

The default library of amplifiers is populated by Delta Tau and Omron devices...but the motor and encoder lists remain empty irrespective of amplifier selection.

Can we get a single download that installs the HELP and product lists? Is there a way to install a default library of motors and encoders?

Can I find the release notes of the version 4.6.1.12 somewhere?

Also, it would be great to have an estimated schedule of the next releases, if possible.
Thanks

The new installation should maintain the list of your “Custom” amplifiers, motors and encoders from the previous installation. Note that by default on a new PC these would be empty. You can “export” an existing installation under the “File->Export” menu.

Oh, I incorrectly assumed some example Omron motors would have been included during installation. The list of amplifiers included several Delta Tau and Omron models by default so I just assumed the motors/encoders were empty by error.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Previous versions of firmware can still be accessed on the Delta Tau website, typically requiring a forums account. However, for future versions, the distribution method has changed. Future firmware versions will be distributed directly to customers through Omron Distributors. If you need to upgrade the firmware or obtain a specific version, you should contact your Omron Distributor and provide necessary product information such as "CPU," "TYPE," and "VERS" via the terminal window.

Previous versions of firmware (FW) cannot be accessed on the Delta Tau website as this site no longer exists. All Delta Tau content has been moved to the Omron website here: https://automation.omron.com/en/us/products/category/pmac-controllers

There is no PMAC FW repository on this Forum or the Omron website.

The remaining post is correct; contact your Omron distributor for any needed FW upgrades.
